I was scrolling through IG and came across my Marketing Mentor’s post that said, “In January, I set my ‘word’ for the year,” so I started to think about what my positive word could be for 2021. Thank you, Lauren Bordelon, @brandgoodtime, for setting my wheels in motion – again!
The first positive word to enter my mind was prosperity, a year of focusing on prosperity. I could use that after the upsetting economic shifts I endured (like many) during 2020. But a second positive word kept making its way into my mind, health.
Okay, I’ll have two positive words then! That makes sense. I will be 47 in February, and I’ve put on honeymoon weight since I remarried in 2017. I have been thinking about health and invested in a program called FASTer Way to Fat Loss®️ (FWTFL). I have the most dedicated and inspiring coach, Deidre James Ferenc.
Of course, I want to be back in my skinny jeans and a crop top, but this program has offered me a more important goal, non-scale wins.
The first non-scale win I achieved on this program was getting off of my antidepressant, and I decided that my non-scale goals for 2021 are:
As I worked on my FWTFL non-scale goals, I realized that each goal’s root is emotional well-being. That’s when my positive word for 2021 dawned on me! WELL-BEING!
Well-being encompasses physical health, mental health, financial health, and so much more. Well-being is a state in which we feel and function optimally, and I want total well-being for you and me!
Moments after realizing my positive word, WELL-BEING, my husband handed me a book. He said it was in the mailbox addressed to me. I had no idea who sent it (still don’t) or why. (I would soon learn why, although it may not have been the sender’s intention.)
It was a thin book, about 85 pages. It was an autobiography of the CEO & President of Scantibodies Laboratory, Inc., one of the largest privately-held biotech companies. I’m not sure what prompted me to start reading the book. It is not a book I would typically read, yet it sparked and held my attention. I got to page 77, and that is when I read a message meant for me. It said,
“… G-d has given me my life motto: ‘You take care of my business, and I will take care of your business.’ G-d’s business is people.”
These words resonate with me immensely. I often call myself the Lorax, except I don’t speak for the trees (though that is quite important). My purpose is to speak for challenging children, even the inner challenging child within each of us, and support them in developing a voice people can hear with their hearts.
I always start my work with two vital questions:
After receiving my unexpected message and finding the perfect positive words for a motto I was already living, I asked G-d what I was supposed to learn and how to serve in 2021.
What came to me is: Help people better understand emotions and their role in well-being.
I am officially dedicating 2021 to well-being, understanding emotions, and applying that awareness to enhancing well-being. Below are some of the ways I’m going to make it happen! Further details will be coming your way:
